Mini Split Acs: Cost Effective Home Cooling, Or Waste Of Money? Which One Is The Best For Effective Cooling Of House

Perhaps one of the best products ever invented was the ac. Nothing beats the luxury of being able to sit inside on a blistering hot day as the ac bursts forth super cooled air to cool your house. For a few years, our only solution was the window unit acs. These loud and sometimes quirky pieces of equipment helped cool you down but were sometimes inefficient in cooling larger areas. You either had to install several units or deal with part of your home being uncomfortably warm. Central acs were an excellent development and they do a quite effective job at cooling the entire house. Today's, they are quite standard in several newly build buildings. But, there's a new child on the block in the world of acs and it is known as the mini split.

A mini split represents an entirely new idea in air conditioning technology in that they're ductless. The desires for ductless air conditioning looms large as lots of houses do not have any space for incorporating the big and bulky duct systems needed for implementing a traditional central ac system. Try to adjust an existing house that does not have space for ducts can be extremely costly and sometimes lead to a cumbersome final design. Mini splits require very little space and are much simpler to install.

While traditional central air systems have one unit inside and one unit outside that work jointly to cool air and force it through the duct system, mini splits feature many units throughout the house. Rather than relying on ducts, mini splits feature refrigerant lines that operate from a single unit outside to each the extra ones inside. These refrigerant lines cool the air and the indoor part distributes the cool air throughout the house. Some homes can do well with just one unit while other larger houses may incorporate up to 3 and often even more zones to full cool the house.

So, while the overall cost can be much inexpensive than central air systems, you do need to content with several indoor units. While they're small, this can be viewed as a negative by some. So far as cooling economically, however, you are not likely to find any negatives here. You see, traditional duct systems can be incredibly inefficient because the cooled air is forced through a huge duct system where much of the cooling is lost during its travel to the register in a specific room. With min splits, the coolant travels through very efficient refrigerant lines straightly to the units that expel the cooled air. Not only will your mini split less expensive to install, your ongoing bills should be cheaper too.

If your house is woefully without ac, then taking some time to examine mini splits a little more may be just the solution to your sweat covered brow. In one day, and for lot cheaper than the expense of a full central air system, you can be chilling in style due to a newly installed mini split ac system.

When purchasing a mini split ac also keep in mind that until December 2010, you will qualify for a 30% tax credit on the unit and labor if the unit has a SEER rating over 16. One very solid new brand that has hit the market are the Shinco Mini Split. We'd highly suggest either a 9,000 BTU Mini Split, or 12,000 BTU Mini Split.
